IF YOU ARE SELF-CONTAINED, teaching the same group of students all day (PK, K, 1, 2 and often 3, 4, and 5th grade), specifically focus on either Reading and/or Mathematics.
EXAMPLE A: Mr. Clark Example: Mr. Clark is a 2nd grade teacher. Mr. Clark is a self contained classroom and he is responsible for teaching his 24 2nd grade students the following subjects each day: math, science, social studies, religion, English and reading. For this exercise, Mr. Clark will specifically focus on reading and math scores to identify "academic" needs.

IF YOU ARE DEPARTMENTALIZED (Grades 6-8, and sometimes 3, 4, and 5), SEE EXAMPLE B:
If you teach middle school or a specific subject, just select ONE of your classes, or grade level sections. Please see example below: Mrs. June Example : Middle School Science teacher "Mrs. June" teaches two 6th grade science classes (6A and 6B), two 7th grade science classes (7A and 7B), and one 8th grade science class. Mrs. June can EITHER choose to pick from one section (6A, 6B, 7A, 7B, or 8), or an entire grade level of this subject (6th grade science, 7th grade science, or 8th grade science).
For this exercise, Mrs. June is going to analyze the needs of her 7th grade science students in combination because she is also the 7th grade homeroom teacher, and wanted to analyze the entire group. 7A is made up of 16 students and 7B is made up of 20 students. In combination, Mrs. Junes 7th grade case load is 36 students.
